The Miracle Choir project

In 1970,  El Sistema (The System), a non-profit after-school music educational program was initiated in Venezuela. Unlike any other music education system in the world, El Sistema is primarily about social change with the agent of classical music. With Venezuelan’s success in a 1/4 decrease in school dropout and crime, now more than 25 countries in the world are using El Sistema to have an impact on its social life, including USA, UK (in Harmony), Australia, Canada, South Korea (Dream Orchestra) - adapted in each country and region according to cultural contexts.

Inspired by this visionary movement, El Sistema idea has been studied and re-designed to adapt to Vietnam cultural context, given the name: Miracle Choir (Dàn Hợp Xướng KỳDiệu) : a Hanoi based, free-of-charge, after-school  music  educational  program  offering  music ensemble experiences  for under-privileged children aged 8-12. It is initiated by two artists Trang Trinh (concert pianist) and Park Sung Min (tenor, choir conductor).

For the first “forming period” of the Miracle Choir - it has received the official sponsorship from Dream Project by The Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam for a two- year period, starting from August 2013.
